Where we stand today. On our way to 100% sustainable materials.

Materials

We design every detail ourselves, which means we have full control over the use of our materials. In our collections you will mainly see polyester, cotton and viscose. So this is where we can make the biggest impact. By 2030, we want to replace all three materials with more sustainable alternatives.

Follow our progress in our roadmap to 2030.

But it isn’t as simple as swapping materials. It takes time to find, test, and implement the right solutions. Our choices are based on and validated by certificates or partners. Learn more about the standards and partners we are working with to make more sustainable fashion choices.

Polyester

Polyester is durable, wrinkle-resistant, and easy to care for. Those qualities make it a great choice for our garments. But producing it requires significant resources and washing it releases microplastics. That’s why minimizing polyester impact is a priority for us.

How much polyester does JOSH V use?

 Today

  • In 2025, 81% of our polyester is recycled, a significant jump.

  • We are on track to replace it with preferred alternatives by 2028.

 Tomorrow

  • Over the next three years, we will continue to research and implement alternative materials.

  • By 2028, 100% of the polyester in our clothing collections will be replaced by more sustainable alternatives, like recycled polyester or innovative new materials.

Cotton

Cotton is soft, breathable and timeless, but its production does harm the environment. We are reducing this impact and are actively working towards more sustainable cotton.

Today

  • In 2025, 90% of our cotton is improved: 75% sourced through Better Cotton, 15% replaced by organic cotton, recycled cotton, or linen.

  • We source through Better Cotton, or use certified organic cotton from the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) and recycled cotton certified by the Global Recycling Standard (GRS).

Tomorrow

  • In 2026, 100% of the cotton in our clothing collections will be replaced by more sustainable alternatives, including cotton sourced through Better Cotton, certified organic cotton, and certified recycled cotton

  • We will further increase the use of organic and recycled content in our clothing collections.

Viscose

Viscose is soft, drapes beautifully, and does not crease, but its production can be harmful and cause deforestation. We are countering this by exploring eco-friendly alternatives for our collections.

Today

Tomorrow

  • We've shifted our viscose target from 2028 to 2030, giving us the time to do this properly, rather than fast.

  • By 2030, 100% of our viscose in our clothing collections will be replaced by more sustainable alternatives.

Wool

Wool is a new chapter in our sustainability journey. In 2025, we have explored the options together with our suppliers. The conclusion is clear: we see a lot of room for improvement here. We are currently laying the groundwork in close collaboration with our suppliers. Replacing wool with more sustainable alternatives is planned for 2026 and beyond
